I know I’ve been the worst blogger ever for…well, as long as
I’ve had this blog. My last blog was easy because I didn’t have a home to
manage, husband to feed, or dog to walk. I won’t keep making promises I can’t
keep, but I will promise to make an effort. That’s a start, right?
I’ve started the FB Photo A DayMay challenge on Twitter/Instagram
& I am definitely enjoying it – I love being committed to something & I
really appreciate small victories. Every RT I do a little happy dance in my
head.
Speaking of small victories, I would like to announce some
goals I have for myself this month. I feel like if I publish them, I will be
more committed to them. So here they are:
1.
I will
walk more. This week I bought myself a fancy pair of walking shoes because
my feet just aren’t the pain-free resilient little suckers they used to be, so
$110 walking shoes seemed to be the only answer to my aching feet (which became
an aching back…and neck…you get the picture). Not to mention, Princess LOVES
walks! And needs them.
2.
I
will read more. I’ve had Devil in the
White City on my bed stand for an embarrassingly long time. Travelling
usually helps me get back on the reading wagon, and it did (we went to DC last
weekend), but I only read on my eBook when I travel. The aforementioned book is
a “real” book. Gotta get on that & read it anyway. Every night I will stop
watching TV at 9PM & read until I go to bed.
3.
I
will criticize less. A few weeks ago for work we had a Summit & one of
the speakers gave us a wonderful mnemonic to remember important steps in
communication. The number one step was “Don’t criticize.” and it’s stuck with
me. I catch myself judging others in my
head (we all do it – which still doesn’t make it right) and I’ve began catching
myself…when I catch myself I say a prayer for that person instead. Leading me
to…
4.
I
will pray more. A dear friend once told me she prays while she uses the
bathroom. Initially, I giggled. However, when I thought on it I realized she’s
brilliant. It’s quiet, you’re alone and no one disturbs you. Because of my sick
addiction to tea I use the bathroom more frequently than I care to admit, so
this allows lots of prayer time. I have also started praying while I walk, and
drive.
I feel pretty good about these goals, and I feel like I can
achieve them. I would like to craft more also, but I know it’s not realistic
for the amount of free time I have right now. After all, we ARE shopping for a
new home (the most frustrating process…ever…more on that another time). My Twitter will prove my progress –
with my goals and the house hunt. :)
