My beloved husband gave me the sewing machine I had been praying for on my birthday this year & I have been sewing like crazy! The day I opened it up & started sewing, I knew exactly the first project I would create: A ruffled necktie t-shirt! I used the tutorial from McKell's Closet - the instructions were perfectly straightforward & I had no problems at all! My Brother 80 struggled through the part she suggested it might - where the ruffles really start piling on top of one another but I am chalking it up to user error. Once I realized how to properly feed the thick pieces of fabric through the feed dogs my little Brother didn't have a problem at all!
I had some leftover buttons from a blazer I recently purchased at Gap, so I used those, an old tie Bill was willing to part with & a $4 Old Navy v-neck tee I had lying around. Here is a photo of the shirt I created based on McKell's tutorial. You should try it, it's so easy & the shirt gets loads of compliments when I wear it!
I'm currently working on a crazy quilt which will become a table runner for SPRING on our table! Stay tuned for photos & updates :) Enjoy this lovely weather & HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING!!
