Happy Mother's Day! Bill and I both enjoyed today with our moms. The weather was spectacular, which I think was Gods way of thanking all the moms. They deserve it!!
Tonight we played "Bigger & Better" with our Youth Group, Boys vs. Girls. If you aren't familiar with this game, each team begins with a pencil & in the allotted time must "trade up" for something bigger & better. THE GIRLS WON THIS YEAR!!! WOOOOOO!!! However, the boys were a really close second. Between the two teams, we ended up with a recliner, a Nintendo 64, a Sony Playstation, headphones, controllers, a cable box, a piece of deck wood, an unused foot spa & a Dell tower computer - not bad since all they started with was a pencil!!
In our end prayer, we all go around & say what we're thankful for & say something we want the others to pray for about us in the next week. Bill & I thanked God for the enthusiasm & teamwork we watched this evening through the kids, and prayed for His guidance as we continue to search for a home. During this prayer I had a little epiphany, maybe the game came at the perfect time for us....backstory:
Yesterday we fell in love with a home. We saw it at 11 am, saw a few others, had lunch, and went back & saw it again. By 6PM we had an offer written up & submitted & we anxiously awaited an answer all evening. The answer we received was not the one we had hoped for, and after our experience last weekend I knew this time I would guard myself from becoming too emotionally involved. But, it's still hard to hear "Sorry, not this time..." again. The, tonight in prayer, I realized God must just have something "Bigger & Better" for us!
At this point in our home search, we have seen 60+ homes. We know the market like the backs of our hands and any given home in a 5 mile radius with a for sale sign I can tell you from memory what the asking price is, how many square feet & how long it's been on the market. We're tired. We've seen all we can possibly see. We've put two offers in, and received two refusals. As far down as my brain wants to drag me, my heart is reminding me that there will be something "Bigger & Better" out there for us. It's time to take a step back, breathe, enjoy the summer in our perfectly located condo; while we walk to festivals & concerts & enjoy the large front lawn with our doggie neighbors, we will casually watch what's new on the market.
I am so grateful for our moms for reminding us that this is what is meant to happen, for my Faith to remind me there is a "Bigger & Better" plan for us & for my husband, who is my best friend and loving partner through thick & thin. What have you experienced that is "Bigger & Better" than what you'd imagined?
