Goal: Reupholster Dining Room Chairs

1

Our dining room set is one Bill found at a garage sale years ago. He got the table, a leaf, and 5 chairs for $50. Pretty amazing deal! It's a really solid table and the leaf is great for Mini Thanksgiving so everyone can fit at the table. However, the chairs leave something to be desired. Because Bill prefers natural wood finish to painted wood, painting & refinishing the whole set is out of the question. My solution to giving the chairs a makeover? Reupholster them! I've read lots of articles on how to do this and I think it's something very within my realm of capabilities. Here is a photo of one chair now:

The photo color doesn't quite do it justice, the seats are kind of a maroon colored microfiber. They're perfectly intact ad very adequate for what they're used for, but let's be honest....Maroon?! My goal is to reupholster these bad boys by Christmas, since Mini Thanksgiving is a mere 6 days away...I don't want to be TOO ambitious! I'm hoping to incorporate some cool grays along with the accent colors we've inadvertently started using throughout the condo: cyan & chartreuse. In my head, this make over will really rejuvenate these garage sale chairs! Let's see if the execution follows suit ;-)
